Great Lakes nearly pulled off what would have been a tremendous upset against Robert Morris on Saturday night, falling short in a thrilling overtime contest, 96-94.
After being behind at the break, 44-35, the Crusaders rallied behind 39 points from Kyle Downing, much of which came from 7/9 shooting beyond the arc.
With 1.7 seconds to go, DeAngelo Brown shot a well-defended game-tying three to send it to overtime.
Only at the very end of overtime were the Eagles able to get away, and won only by the slightest of margins, 96-94. Maurice Jordan scored 13 points and Tyler Piercefield led the team with 10 rebounds.
The team will get a much-deserved sabbatical over Christmas break before returning to action on January 12 at Kuyper.
