Cash and Securities
Cash or securities are among the most popular types of gifts to Great Lakes Christian College. Many of our alumni and friends make annual unrestricted contributions to the College. They may choose to restrict their gifts to specific programs or educational purposes such as scholarships, sports or libraries and equipment, etc.
Checks should be made out to Great Lakes Christian College. Please indicate the purpose of your gift (e.g. scholarship fund, the library, etc.)
Qualified Charitable Distributions
The Internal Revenue Service allows IRA owners age 70 1/2 or over to transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions (QCD), offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity before the end of the year. Morever, for thos who are at least 72, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution for the year.
How to set up a QCD:
- Contact your IRA trustee so that have enough time to make the transaction for you.
- Be sure that the distribution is paid directly from the IRA to the Charity. (If the distribution is paid to the owner, it does not qualify as a QCD and you will pay taxes.)
