Veteran Education Benefits

Supporting our Military Students

Great Lakes Christian College (GLCC) welcomes all veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Whether you’re transitioning from military life or continuing your education while serving, we’re here to help you finance an education centered on personal, spiritual, and intellectual growth. GLCC applies a 15% tuition discount for all military service members, veterans, military spouses, and dependents (Dependency status is as determined by the FAFSA).

Intellectual Growth

Develop attitudes and skills through our 6 Core Competencies.

Spiritual Growth

Be equipped with the characteristics of a servant-leader in God’s kingdom.

Personal Growth

Level up in your faith and maturity as the person God created you to be.

Education Benefits for Military Students

GLCC participates in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefit programs, including:

  • Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) – Covers tuition and fees, provides a housing allowance, and offers funds for books and supplies.
  • Montgomery GI Bill® (Chapter 30) – An alternative yet similar program to chapter 33.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (Chapter 31) – For veterans with service-connected disabilities seeking education and career support.
  • Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) – For eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently disabled or deceased as a result of military service.
  • Selected Reserve Educational Assistance (Chapter 1606) – For members of the Selected Reserve or National Guard.

You may qualify for funded tuition, and perhaps a monthly housing stipend, depending upon your specific benefit chapter and length of service. Our team will help you determine which benefits you’re eligible for and guide you through every step of the certification process.

Applying Your Benefits

Military personnel, and the spouses and dependents of military personnel, may be eligible to receive education benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Interested persons should follow these steps:

  1. Apply for admission to Great Lakes Christian College.
  2. Veterans or service members enrolling in college should apply for VA Education Benefits to determine the eligibility. Upon approval of the application, the VA will issue a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
  3. Submit your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA to the Financial Aid Office.
  4. If you’re the veteran using the benefits, submit a copy of your DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty). This document helps GLCC verify your service history and benefit eligibility.
  5. Submit the completed VA Authorization Form.

Provide any transcripts from previous colleges or military training (Joint Services Transcript or Community College of the Air Force).

Financial Aid and Additional Assistance

In addition to VA benefits, students may qualify for:

  • Federal and State Financial Aid (FAFSA)

  • Institutional Scholarships

  • Military Tuition Assistance (TA) for active-duty personnel

  • Payment plans and support for balancing aid and benefits

Our financial aid team is here to help you maximize every available resource.Â
