Open Position:

Music and Worship Ministry Professor (full-time)

Great Lakes Christian College is seeking qualified applications for a full-time music and worship ministry professor. Employment could begin as early as July 1, 2027. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Compensation is based on education and experience.

 Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with significant ministry experience who have a
    terminal degree in Worship Studies and/or Music. Consideration will also be given to
    highly experienced applicants with a master’s degree who are willing to work toward or
    are in the process of earning a terminal degree in the field.
  • Candidates must demonstrate eagerness to build GLCC’s worship ministry program into a premier training ground for worship leaders and possess passion to follow Christ and seek first God’s kingdom in all things.
  • Candidates must be part of and committed to the values, churches, and institutions
    affiliated with the Restoration Movement.
  • Candidates must possess the desire and ability to teach effectively, mentor young adults, work well with a team, and improve as a teacher and course developer.
  • Candidates should be able to teach a good number of the courses in GLCC’s music and
    worship ministry programs as listed on pp. 49 and 57 of the current academic catalog.

Responsibilities

  • Role specific responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, advising, tending to committee assignments, engaging in campus life, participating in faculty meetings, assessing curriculum in one’s area of expertise, and using one’s gifts and passions to serve the wider college and community.
  • This faculty member will take an active role in a variety of worship events on campus,
    including but not limited to convocation, chapel services, special holiday gatherings,
    and graduation ceremonies.
  • Faculty members are expected to spend at least 30 hours per week on campus, August—May, and a handful of days over the summer. They must also represent the college well before the wider public, engage GLCC’s constituencies constructively, and work alongside all other staff to recruit and retain students.

Pre-employment and Post-employment Screening

All prospective employees undergo pre-employment criminal background screening before an offer of employment is made. All GLCC employees undergo periodic criminal background rescreening to ensure they have not been charged with a crime since having been hired. Any individual who commits or has committed any conduct that would adversely impact the health and safety of any student, as determined on a case-by-case basis, and including but not limited to criminal sexual conduct of any degree, or any other violent crime, is ineligible for employment at GLCC.
